PRRS does not respond to antibiotics. The secondary bacterial pneumonia that follows does, and without a same-day diagnosis it gets treated blind and across the group. Herd status on the day narrows that to the animals that need it.
AMR moves from animals to people. Pigs are where the volume is.
Monthly monitoring, not outbreak firefighting
A test you can run more often changes what you learn.
A lab test is something you send when you already suspect a problem. A test that runs in the barn is something you run every month. Testing at weaning and through the nursery turns PRRS from something you discover when performance drops into something you track and prepare for.
